Woodcraft is a ground breaking string quintet of five young composers and instrumentalists (3 cello's, 2 violins). Empowered by their classical background, the group has embarked on a very distinctive musical path. They craft music that weaves together jazz, funk, folk and classical influences, forging a fresh identity. In their eclectic compositions improvisation and structure flow effortlessly into each other, creating dynamic and captivating stories. The ensemble draws inspiration from artists like Herbie Hancock, Igor Stravinsky and Bela Fleck. Their aim is to create music that invites you on an adventure and makes you move!
Their musical journey has led them to prominent venues and festivals such as the North Sea Jazz festival, Cello Biënnale Amsterdam, BIMHUIS and the Grachtenfestival Amsterdam. In 2022 they won the first and audience prize of the renowned Dutch Jazz Competition.
Woodcraft's second studio album will be released in 2024.
